Skydiving

  • John: I decided to to try skydiving the other day. I got up in the plane and freaked out at the last minute and couldn't jump. The instructor grabbed a big piece of pipe and threatened to shove it up my ass if I didn't jump.
  • Joe: So, did you jump?
  • John: A little at first.

iFail at Omegle

  • Stranger: hi
  • You: ohi
  • Stranger: asl?
  • You: Aslan? I liked Narnia too.
  • Your conversational partner has disconnected.

Oh Cleverbot...

  • User: Run, it's David Bowie!
  • Cleverbot: Hey, you just said you can't tell me your name.
  • User: Ground control to Major Tom, cleverbot isn't clever.
  • Cleverbot: I love David Bowie!
  • User: Yeah I mentioned David Bowie already.
  • Cleverbot: I only remember names the second time around.
  • User: Then you're not very clever.
  • Cleverbot: I guess not.
  • User: That's very honest of you...
  • Cleverbot: Gee, thanks. Honesty is my best quality.

"… the implication of an iPad-crazed world – with its millions of delighted, infatuated users – is that a single US company renowned for control-freakery will have become the gatekeeper to the online world. The iPad – like the iPhone – is a closed, tightly controlled device: nothing gets on to it that has not been expressly approved by Apple. We will have arrived at an Orwellian end by Huxleian means. And be foolish enough to think that we’ve attained nirvana."

John Naughton in the Observer (via grahambinns)

Gotta hand it to the guy. There’s still and probably will always be competition for Apple as long as they exist as a company, but that doesn’t stop me from admiring a well-written conclusion.
